Working with Picote 3D PVC technology is all about controlled force. The spare spring ensures the chain stays centered in the pipe even when the diameter of the pipe varies. Unlike the stiff leaders for heavy carbide chains, this spring provides just the right amount of flexibility to avoid damaging the smooth inner walls of plastic pipes.

Navigation and Dynamic Balance

The spring plays a key role in the operation of the 3D system:

• Bend navigation: The spring finds its way through 45° and 90° bends, allowing the chain to follow without "snagging.

• Centering: During speed up, the spring helps keep the shaft head in the center of the pipe, ensuring even cleaning over the full 360 degrees.

• Damping: It absorbs vibrations created when beating away grease or scale build-up, extending the life of your flexible shaft.

Features and Specifications

When is replacement necessary?

Because the spring is constantly exposed to torsion and friction, inspection is recommended before every job. Replace the spring if:

• The windings are stretched: This creates imbalance at high speeds.

• There are visible kinks in them: A bent spring can unnecessarily hit or scratch the PVC pipe wall.

• Spring tension has decreased: If the spring feels "slack," it does not provide sufficient control for the chain's 3D expansion.

Expert tip: Thoroughly clean and lightly grease the spring after each use in greasy environments (such as kitchen drains). This prevents dirt from accumulating between the windings, allowing the spring to retain its maximum flexibility for the next job.
